Privacy Policy

split-cash keeps the least it needs to split costs between friends. This page lists all of it.

What we store

Your account: your email address, the name you choose, and your password. The password is stored only as a salted PBKDF2 hash, so nobody can read it.

What you and your friends enter: groups, the names of people in them, expenses with their amounts, dates and descriptions, how each was split, and payments.

A session: when you sign in, your browser keeps a random token in a cookie, and we store a hash of it to recognise you for up to 30 days after you last used the app.

Who can see it

Everything in a group is visible to the people in that group, including the name you chose. Your email address is not shown to other members.

We do not sell, rent or share your data with anyone for advertising or any other purpose. split-cash shows no ads.

Where it is kept

split-cash runs on Cloudflare. The app and its data are hosted by Cloudflare, Inc., which processes them on our behalf under its data processing terms. Cloudflare keeps short-lived request logs, such as IP addresses and the pages requested, to run and protect the service.

Cookies and local storage

We use one cookie, the session cookie, which is needed to keep you signed in. There are no analytics, tracking or advertising cookies.

Your browser also remembers your language choice in its local storage. It never leaves your device.

How long we keep it

Your account and groups are kept until you ask us to delete them. When someone deletes an expense, payment or group, it disappears for everyone but stays in our database so mistakes can be undone. Ask us and we will erase it for good.

Your rights

You can see and correct your data in the app at any time. To get a copy of everything we hold about you, or to have your account and data erased, write to hello@split-cash.org from the address you signed up with. We reply within 30 days.

Children

split-cash is not meant for children under 16, and we do not knowingly hold their data.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top. Questions go to hello@split-cash.org .
